28 Days Old and Still a Newborn: Why Age Doesn’t Matter in Newborn Photograph
Some parents worry that their baby might be too old for a newborn photoshoot once they’re past the first couple of weeks. I get it — it’s a common concern. But honestly, who in their right mind wouldn’t call this little girl a newborn?
I had the absolute pleasure of photographing this beautiful baby girl at 28 days old. She was calm, sweet, and perfectly tiny — exactly the kind of baby you hope to meet in those early weeks. Age is just a number; what matters is capturing those delicate, fleeting moments that make newborn photography so special.
There are many reasons why parents might not be able, or might not feel ready, to bring their baby in during the first week of life. Perhaps Mum or baby isn’t feeling up to heading out, or recovery and feeding schedules make it tricky. And that’s completely okay. A newborn session can happen when it suits your family, and babies at 3–4 weeks still have all the qualities we love about newborn photography.
In the studio, we kept everything simple, soft, and light. Minimal props, neutral tones, and plenty of gentle, unhurried guidance allowed her to feel comfortable and safe. She let us capture so many little details: the curl of her tiny fingers, the softness of her cheeks, and those peaceful sleepy expressions that make your heart melt.
Parents often worry their baby will be too alert, too wriggly, or too “old” for those classic curled-up newborn poses. But with patience, calm energy, and a relaxed studio environment, we can create timeless, gentle images at almost any age in those first few weeks. At 28 days, she was still perfectly within that newborn stage — and her gallery proves it.
It’s my job to make you feel welcome and to give you, your baby, and your partner a truly luxury experience — no matter how old your baby is. From the moment you arrive, everything is about calm, comfort, and creating beautiful, timeless memories for your family.
I’m so pleased to share 10 of my favourite images from her session. Each one is a reminder that there’s no rush, and that your newborn photoshoot can happen when it feels right for your family.
If you’re wondering whether it’s too late for a newborn session, I promise you: your baby is never “too old.” Every newborn deserves a calm, simple, timeless session, and I’d love to capture it for you.
