What To Wear to A Baby Photo Shoot
Have you ever wondered why there’s a consistently bright and airy feel to all Mabel & Møøse photographs?
One key factor is what everyone wears. “What should I wear to my baby’s newborn photo session?” and “What should my baby wear to a photo shoot?”
Look around my galleries and you’ll see that almost everyone is wearing white, cream, or dreamy neutrals: pale blue, grey, or light sand. You won’t find anyone in a top with a logo or a pattern.
Nothing should take away from the beauty and natural simplicity of your baby. I get asked so often if this makes a difference. The answer is a resounding yes. It’s something every couple totally understands once they visit my studio and they see their baby’s final gallery. You will absolutely want your baby to be the star of the show, not your dark jeans.
Becoming a new parent is hard enough without having to worry about shopping for the right clothes for your newborn’s photo shoot. So everything is made easy for you. Included in your session fee is the use of any of the dresses from Mable & Møøse’s client Mum wardrobe. They are all this seasons styles and there’s something to suit everyone in sizes 8-18. Experience with Mums tells me exactly what styles are flattering and look best in a photograph. I understand what it feels like to have just had a baby and can remember wondering what to wear.
In your welcome pack, you’ll receive a style guide with photographs of all the available dresses, tops, and bottoms including a list of the sizes. You are welcome to bring your own favourite white dress and all parents to bring a plain white t-shirt. Dad just needs light jeans or trousers and a white t-shirt.
Mabel & Møøse supply everything that your baby needs and I have great little outfits for siblings up to age 4. Little ones look scrumptious in soft white cotton and textured knits. All the baby and children’s clothes are from companies like Zara and The White Company. Mostly all the baby clothes and blankets are organic and they are all freshly laundered before each session in Fairy. You’ll have fun choosing what to wear. Everything is comfortable, fashionable and, you’ve guessed it, everything is white!
If you’d like to shop for your own white dress then it’s a good idea to keep in mind that a dress that looks great and will flatter you in photographs isn’t necessarily the same as the one you’d choose to wear on a night out. Think dreamy summer days, with soft, floaty fabric that’s comfortable and flattering. If you’d feel more at ease then shop for white or very pale bottoms and either a classic white t-shirt or blouse as a top. Low-cut necklines and v-necks don’t tend to work so well. A feminine Bardot neckline flatters so many women. White skinny jeans white carpi pants or white leggings are all good but remember you need to be able to sit down comfortably.
For Dads, sand-coloured chinos, pale trousers, long pale shorts all work well. A plain white t-shirt is essential and a white henley shirt is always good.
