7 Scottish babies get modelling debuts in top camera magazine

When Stephanie Baxter contacted me just before Christmas to invite me to be interviewed for the prestigious camera magazine FujiLove, I was thrilled.  Fujilove is the Number 1 magazine and website for Fujifilm X Series camera users from all 4 corners of the world. It’s maybe not the magazine that you’ll find in your local newsagent but in the world of photography— it’s massive!  Fuji is not just any old camera brand. They make retro-style cameras with a heart and a soul. Truly loved by many photographers. And I am one of those loved-up photographers—besotted with my Fuji camera.

So before I lose readers who aren’t photographers, let’s move on to my interview.  Stephanie was a delightful interviewer and the questions she asked made it really easy for me to share my story. We chatted about the simplicity of my style of newborn photography— both minimalist and timeless.  And she took me right back to where my love of photography started. From my first camera when I was just 7 to the present day and the launch of Mabel & Møøse. It was a hard task to look through all the babies I have photographed to find just 8 of my favourite photos. It was important to showcase my signature style of colour photography but also show that I love black & white.  And I don’t just photograph newborns—I go from birth through sitting, crawling and up to 18 months.

Photography isn’t my only passion—I simply adore tiny babies. So much so that I had 4 of my own. My clients say I have so much patience with their precious newborns, but I don’t see it that way. When I’m sitting on my studio floor, rocking a tiny baby to sleep, does it really matter if they take a long time to nod off. Goodness I’d much rather be doing this than working 9-5 in an office.

I’m delighted to share some of the interview with you.  If you have a love of photography and would like to know more then have a look at the FujiLove website where you can read my full article, all 10 pages of it! (I’m still pinching myself that I have a 10 page interview in a magazine!) And if any of the teeny stars in this edition ever reach the dizzy heights in modelling of Naomi Campbell (I couldn’t find a more current supermodel) and Sean O'Pry, then I hope they remember me fondly as their 1st photographer.

If you’re interest in reading more and many other great articles about all things Fuji and photography then you’ll find it here on the Fujilove website and please feel free to message me if you have any questions about my work.
