Baby Shops near Dundee

Just where do you buy clothes for your newborn?

Shopping for your newborn is one of the exciting things about pregnancy. You will probably receive lots of gifts for your baby that will keep you stocked up on clothes for the first few months, but buying clothes for your little one that you choose yourself is important. Wandering around a baby shop is a lovely activity to do, either on your own, or with your partner, mum, sisters or girls friends. It’s a good, if not slightly sneaky way, to point out the kind of things you’d like, in case any of them are buying you baby gifts. Have you considered asking your partner to choose the outfit that your new baby will come home from hospital in? It’s a beautiful way to make them feel included.

So many of the little independent baby shops have now disappeared from out high streets and shopping inline is very convenient but it’s still worth seeking out real shops. You can feel the quality of the things your buying and shopping locally is always good.

My favourite Dundee baby clothes shop, is Smarty Pants. When I first moved to Monifieth, I fell in love with it, and loved treating my children to some fantastic outfits. It’s at 257 Brook Street in Broughty Ferry, just outside Dundee. It’s been a firm favourite with stylish mums since 1990. It’s a family run boutique with lovely helpful staff and room for a your pram. They stock a wide range of baby brands, including Mayoral, Frugi and, one of my favourites , Satila. Satila have been making pom-pom baby hats forever! All of my babies loved them. Smarty Pants also stock a small range of baby toys and can provide gift vouchers.

If you’re visiting Broughty Ferry then The Nappy Pin, in Grey Street, has a small selection of more traditional baby clothes. The Nappy Pin is another family owned baby shop and has a great selection of prams, buggies, cots and high chairs.

Shopping for your newborn or baby is usually a balance between buying designer baby clothes for a special occasion, and practical, well priced everyday clothes. H&M and Boots in the Overgate, Next, T.K. Maxx and Matalan in Gallacher Retail Park, and M&S in The Murraygate, all stock baby clothes from newborn - older baby. Boots usually has a range that suits premature babies.

All the big supermarkets have their own range of baby clothes. Usually they are only stocked in the larger branches. So it’s worth checking out George at Asda, Tesco, Sainsburies and Morrisons.

The White Company in Union Square in Aberdeen is worth a trip to find something extra special for your new little bundle. The White Company has been around for 30 years and makes impeccably stylish, beautifully designed clothes for babies from newborn upwards. Create from the finest materials, your baby will be so comfortable in these little pieces of affordable luxury.

I am a big fan of JoJo MamanBebe. They have such a wonderful range of well priced clothes that are fantastic quality. They stock so much more than just baby clothes. If you are shopping for anything from baby blankets, baby bottles, night lights or all things maternity, chances re you’ll find it at JoJo MamanBebe. They have a branch in the High Street in Perth. If you are visiting Perth, then pop in to the Little Bird Cafe, which is just a few doors up. The food is delicious, and it’s very baby friendly.

I adore searching out and buying the perfect clothes for baby photography. There is no need to buy a special outfit when you are having your little one photographed at Mabel & Møøse. To get my signature Scandi-style look, most of the baby clothes are white. Not the most practical colour to use everyday, which is why everything is provided for your baby to wear. I have beautiful outfits for all ages of baby and little siblings up to 4 years old

If you love our Scandi-style photos please get in touch to book your baby’s photoshoot and let me create some adorable memories
